Ustekinumab STELARA®

HOW LONG I WILL BE ON IT?

Most patients with IBD will be treated for a long period of time. If you are on a planned course of ustekinumab infusions, you should be reassessed regularly to see whether ongoing treatment is still right for you. If you stop treatment and then relapse after treatment is stopped, you will have the option to start treatment again or be switched to another biologic drug.

In some people ustekinumab may lose its effectiveness over time. In these cases, your ustekinumab dose may be increased or given more often. Another solution can be to switch to another biologic drug, such as infliximab, adalimumab, golimumab or vedolizumab. Ustekinumab can also cause a range of side effects that might mean the treatment is no longer suitable for you.
